Strategies to Sustainability

Aboriginal Relations

In Canada today, Aboriginal peoples are working to build sustainable communities supported by organizations and infrastructure that are economically, socially, culturally and environmentally viable over the long-term.

The success of these efforts depends, in a significant way, upon the recognition of traditional ways of Aboriginal life, the full participation of Aboriginal peoples in the revenues and benefits generated through the resources on their lands, the settlement of existing and asserted land claims, and the recognition of title and treaty rights and the right to self-government.

Stratos is experienced in supporting relationships between Aboriginal organizations and communities, and external groups such as industry, NGOs and Federal and Provincial Governments. We see opportunities to build upon a foundation of respect and trust in order to enable dialogue and to support Aboriginal communities and organizations, while working with them to promote sustainable land and resource management.
