Purpose of the Program
The purpose of the Stratos Community Investment Program is to:

• Demonstrate that we are a corporately responsible company; and
• Contribute meaningfully to the community in which we live and do business.

Goal of the Program
To enhance community well being by supporting Canadian projects and activities that contribute to improved social, economic and environmental conditions.

Objectives

1. Demonstrate leadership in community contributions for a company of our size.
   
   Target: Donate 1% of annual pre-tax profit to registered charities on an annual basis.
   
2. Encourage and support Stratos employee participation in community volunteerism and foster team spirit and collegiality among Stratos staff.
   
3. Target: Stratos employees volunteer up to 1% of overall annual time to community volunteerism. 

Program Elements

Internship Funding
Stratos will allocate part of its annual community investment funding (up to $2,500) to a non-profit organization to hire an intern.

Criteria for internship funding:

1. The internship is Ottawa-based;
2. There is a demonstrated capacity of the non-profit organization to provide oversight of the intern (e.g. guidance on relevant tasks, feedback, etc.);
3. Matching funds are provided by the non-profit organization; and
4. The intern works on project(s) related to sustainability.

Program/Project Funding
Stratos will allocate part of its annual community investment funding to non-profit organizations working in the area of sustainability. Funding will not exceed $1,500 per project.

Criteria for community contributions:

1. The majority of the organization’s project work is conducted within Canada;
2. The organization conducts work to advance sustainability;
3. 3.The receiving organization is able to demonstrate long-term, stable funding;
4. The organization is well respected in the community and has demonstrable project success; and
5. The organization has the receiving capacity to ensure that funds are effectively used.
