Michael is a big picture thinker and strategic integrator. He engages with leaders in Canada’s natural resources sector and the North, helping them recognize and act on environmental and socio-economic challenges and opportunities.
He also works with clients and communities of interest to design, manage, and facilitate consultation and engagement processes on a range of sustainability issues.
Michael has particular expertise and experience dealing with abandoned mines and contaminated sites. He acts as a strategic advisor to the Giant Mine and Faro Mine Remediation Projects and has been recognized for his contributions in this area with a Clean50Award from Delta Management Group and a Deputy Ministers’ Pride and Recognition Award for Service Excellence.

He also works with clients and communities of interest to design, manage, and facilitate consultation and engagement processes on a range of sustainability issues. Michael facilitates the Mining Association of Canada’s national multi-stakeholder Community of Interest Advisory Panel.

Michael leads Stratos’ efforts to advance thought leadership and dialogue on evolving regional approaches to sustainable resource development. For his contribution to launching the Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) initiative, he was recognized, along with the Canadian Mining Association of Canada, with a joint Excellence in Corporate Responsibility (ECR) Award.
Michael received a 2015 Clean50 Award from Delta Management Group for both his work on TSM and Stratos’ leadership in addressing abandoned mines in Canada’s North. He is also a recipient of the Deputy Ministers’ Pride and Recognition Award for Service Excellence, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, Northern Contaminated Sites Program.
“I love my work,” says Michael, “But when it comes to time off, there’s nothing I enjoy more than joining family and friends for self-propelled recreation – hiking, mountain biking, paddling, running and skiing.”
